When I first posted this picture, comments came flowing in. Everyone had their own interpretation. Some said it was a map, others thought it was cubist, some thought "futuristic", "robotic". When I started this work from the paper that I pulled and pigmented, I tried to "listen" to what the paper was telling me. I began drawing boxes inspired by the boundaries of all the colors and then the work just flowed from there. I'm sure there is some sort of subconscious attachment in my brain for this piece. The "water" area is definitely inspired by the night dives I recently did in Hawaii. Translucent creatures came up from the depths of the ocean. Some were glowing as if they had fluorescent lights within them. This work has a powerful voice for me .

In the original artwork Ms Graden pulls and pigments cotton rag in the paper studio and then applies mixed media to create her art. Often, images emerge from the paper as she works and her technique is a truly creative process. All prints are made from a high-resolution digital source produced from professional photography of the original artwork. The greeting cards are 5x7 and come in sets of six with the selected artwork. Sales tax is included in the item price.
